AirSG shows official NEA air quality for Singapore, and station or model data elsewhere. There is no account, no backend and no analytics.

What AirSG collects
Nothing on our side. AirSG has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting service and no third-party SDKs. We do not operate a server for the app and we do not receive information from it.
What stays on your device
Your selected place, cached readings, alert thresholds and alert state are stored locally on the iPhone so the app can open quickly and keep the last good reading. Deleting the app removes them.
Location
Location access is optional. With your permission, AirSG uses the device's position to choose the nearest place and monitoring station, centre the map, and check whether you have moved when iOS wakes the app in the background. You can deny location and use the search field instead.
AirSG does not send your location to us. To fetch a reading for where you are, the app sends the coordinates to the data provider for that place — WAQI (aqicn.org) or Open-Meteo. NEA's Singapore feeds are region-wide and do not need your coordinates. Those providers receive the request, including your IP address and coordinates, under their own privacy policies. AirSG does not store your location on a server and has no account to link it to.
Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Location — When In Use | to choose the nearest place and monitoring station and centre the map |
| Location — Always | optional; lets iOS wake AirSG after a significant move so alerts follow you. Without it the app still works while open. |
| Notifications | only when you switch on a haze or rain alert; alerts are local notifications |
| Background App Refresh | iOS may wake AirSG to check the reading; iOS decides if and when it actually runs |
All permissions are granted in iOS Settings and can be revoked at any time.
Network connections
The app makes read-only HTTPS requests to:
- NEA / data.gov.sg — Singapore PSI, PM2.5, weather, rainfall and the 70 km rain radar.
- WAQI / aqicn.org — the nearest live monitoring station outside Singapore, and in Singapore when enabled.
- Open-Meteo — model air quality, weather, forecast and 15-minute nowcast.
- Apple MapKit — map tiles, camera and place search.
There is no account, payment, AI, analytics, advertising or crash-reporting service. No backend and no telemetry endpoint.
Notifications
Haze, rain-forecast and nearby-rain alerts are local notifications created on the device. They are not sent through a push server, and no notification content leaves the device except as a standard iOS notification.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. It is served by Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request data (such as an IP address and user agent) to deliver the page and protect the service. We do not use that data to identify visitors.
Children's privacy
AirSG collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your choices
- Deny location and search for a place instead.
- Turn off any alert in Settings; revoke notifications in iOS Settings.
- Revoke background refresh or location in iOS Settings.
- Delete the app to remove its local settings and cache.
Data and attribution
Singapore data is published by NEA via data.gov.sg under the Singapore Open Data Licence 1.0. Open-Meteo data is used under CC BY 4.0 (free, non-commercial). WAQI data is used with the attribution its terms require. AirSG is free and non-commercial. The providers' terms and privacy policies apply to their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new date.
